Laser Therapy

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to help accelerate the healing process. The diodes emit photons (light) in very specific regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. These photons penetrate the skin and are best absorbed by the energy-producing part of your body’s cells called the mitochondria. Stimulating the mitochondria leads to a cascade of events that is theorized to result in increased energy production for the cell, allowing the cell to work more efficiently to accelerate tissue repair, decrease inflammation and increase local microcirculation. Furthermore, LLLT leads to increased endorphin synthesis which will lead to a decrease in the pain you are experiencing.

Your physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment of your condition to determine if LLLT should be considered as a part of your treatment plan.
