TMJ Therapy
TMJ Therapy is a form of physiotherapy that focuses on treating problems involving the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)—the joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull and allows you to open and close your mouth for speaking, chewing, and yawning.
Treatment begins with an assessment of the jaw, neck, and surrounding muscles to identify factors contributing to symptoms such as jaw pain, clicking or popping, headaches, facial pain, or difficulty opening the mouth. TMJ therapy may include manual therapy to the jaw and neck muscles, guided exercises to improve jaw movement and muscle control, posture correction, and education on habits that may strain the jaw (such as clenching or grinding).
The goal of TMJ therapy is to reduce pain, improve jaw function, and help restore normal movement of the jaw during everyday activities like eating and speaking.
